3-5th Grade Movement with Giles of Asheville Contemporary Dance Theater

Giles has been working with his students on the elements of dance and movement.  They’ve been learning to travel on a path while using movements like undulation, slow-motion, underwater and choppy.  They have lots of fun being challenged to create pieces for each other and perform them.  The students watching get to guess what type of movement like undulating or choppy and what type of path; i.e. curvy, straight, or zigzag. Thanks Giles for a fun challenge that helps us learn expression through movement.

In Naure of Singing with Melody the students were treated to a friend of Melody’s who brought along musical instruments to share with the group.  They kept rhythm, and played songs. They also did activities that encouraged understanding and creativity through musical concepts. Thank you Melody

K-2 Movement   w/Melissa W.

The K2 Movement Special with Melissa do many fun activities in their quest to learn about movement concepts. They have created a choreographed piece by connecting movements to each of their names. They  also do musical line movements following the instructions that Melissa W. Gives. They have most fun doing it all to great music. Thank you Melissa W.

4th Grade Movement with Giles of ACDT

In Movement with Giles students are creating a choreographed path that highlights the element of line. Students will utilize different types of lines in their pieces. For example curved lines, zig zags, spirals, straight, and wavy just to name a few.

Students had fun showing their interesting pathways.

 Thanks Giles and Anomaly!
