Electives at FDNSC 2016-17

ELECTIVES 2016-17

Greetings from Francine Delany Arts Coordinator,

I hope you have all had a great summer. I have been networking to develop our pool of potential Electives Teachers. Just to remind you, my name is Chris Corral and I am the Arts Coordinator at Francine Delany New School for Children. I am looking for teachers to teach in the Francine Delany Electives Program for our middle school students (6-8th Graders).

This year we will be setting up our Middle School Electives program as far as we can through the year.  We’d like to offer a wide variety of Elective classes for Middle school students. Our Electives program classes occur most Fridays. There are three sessions which have 9 or 10 Fridays each. Each Friday of Electives has three time slot options.

They will look like this:

First Hour Elective Class  from 12:15-1:15

Second Hour Elective Class from 1:20-2:20

2 Hour Elective from 12:15-2:20.

Slots will fill up quickly.

Parents if you are interested in being an Electives Teachers please contact me at chris@fdnsc.net.

We’d like to make sure our students are offered classes such as these: Art, Music, Movement, Science/Engineering,Technology, Sports. In Art we’d like to be able to offer a more specific type of art instruction to develop skills. In Technology we’d like to be able to offer video creation, podcasts, digital photography, programming or even digital music creation.

Please feel free to offer classes not included in the above list.

These are the Session Dates:

Session 1: Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30 Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28 ,Nov. 4 (Electives Fair)

Session 2: Nov. 18, Dec. 2, 9, Jan. 6, 13, 20, 27, Feb. 3, 10 (Electives Fair)

Session 3: Feb. 24, Mar. 3, 10, 17, 31 Apr. 21, May 5, 12, 19 (Electives Fair)

Please email Chris Corral at chris@fdnsc.net to reply what class, and which Sessions and times you could be available to teach.  Please include a 3-5 sentence description/title of class for the Electives catalog.

Thanks for your time. Volunteer teachers will be given preference but we do have a limited budget for highly specialized classes. If you have any questions or know someone who might be interested in teaching, please share this information with them or give them my contact info.  Being an Elective Teacher is good experience for young teaching professionals and looks great on any resume.

Best Regards,

Chris Corral
